Västerbro is an area in Lund that was previously used for heavy industry and is to be converted into a mixed city centre. Måsen (The Seagull) preschool preserves much of Västerbro’s history and identity by integrating existing design language and materials. The project places great focus on sustainability. By using wood, recycled sheet metal from the site, self-produced energy and with a construction that can be taken apart and reassembled, the climate footprint is kept low. It is also a place of diversity where the children can learn from nature in the courtyard and grow with it.
