The Moroccan desert has an extreme climate for the people staying there. The nomadic people living here has found ways of sheltering from it by constructing tents that adapt to the environment. Inspired by these the Desert Praline aims to expand upon the adaptation using digital tools and parametric design. By contracting the fabric with a method called smocking the tent can provide better thermal climate for the cold winter nights as well as the hot summer days. The project investigates the different patterns and form of smocking in a digital environment to see how the final result is affected when made into a physical prototype.
